Betty Russell Harlan, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, died Tuesday evening, July 21, 2015 at her home.
Betty was born November 29, 1928 in Elkhart, IN. She was a graduate of Elkhart High School in Elkhart, IN. Betty was retired from Hamilton Medical Center after 35 plus years of service, where she worked in financial services. Following her retirement she was a dedicated volunteer for 10 years at the hospital and meals on wheels. She was very active at her church, Christ the King Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Charlie Harlan; her son, Jay Harlan; sister, Betty Marie Overton; and her brother, William “Bill” Russell.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Rick Sneed of Tunnel Hill, GA; daughter-in-law, Tana Harlan of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Annalee Harlan, Sarah Harlan, Will Harlan, Samantha Sneed and Zack Sneed; great-grandson, Harlan Cook; and many friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Betty Russell Harlan will be held Friday morning, July 24, at 11 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with her pastor, Dr. John Rossing officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband and son at Dunagan Cemetery in Rocky Face.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, July 23 and after 10 a.m. Friday, July 24 until the service hour.
