William “Bill” Edward Curtis, 48, of Rocky Face, Georgia, died on Tuesday evening, July 21, 2015.
He was born August 11, 1966 in Dalton, to the late William Elick and Joan Watkins Curtis. He proudly served his country in Desert Storm during the 1st Gulf War in the United States Air Force. He was Deputy with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Bill is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Courtney and Brian Barrett, Katelynn Curtis and Jacob Petty of Rocky Face, GA; grandchildren, Fleura, Natalie and Bailey Barrett; sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Tommy Sluder of Dalton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Dia Curtis of Chatsworth, GA; nieces, Jodi Dominick, Heather Dominick, Kiya Curtis, Abigail Curtis, Alisha Sluder and Megan Ledford; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Service to celebrate the life of Mr. William “Bill” Edward Curtis will be held Saturday, July 25, at 1 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastors, J.R. Holcomb, Darey Kittle and Wayne Saylors. He will be laid to rest at Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Officer Mark Tate, Brent Richards, Deputy Shawn Giles, Deputy Shannon Manis, Deputy James Crawford, Deputy Michael Hawkins, Deputy Daniel Rann and Deputy Wes Townsend serving as pallbearers. The Deputies of Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office C shift will serve as honorary pallbearers. The Sheriff’s Office will provide Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5-9 p.m. Friday, July 24 and after 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 25.
