Chickamauga Battlefield Bicycle Tour July 18
Outdoor Chattanooga and the National Park Service will host a free bicycle history tour of Chickamauga Battlefield on Sat., July 18, 9:30 a.m., beginning in the lower parking lot of the Battlefield Visitors Center, in Ft.
Oglethorpe, GA. Adults and kids ages 8 and older are invited to join the tour with their own bicycles, or riders 5' tall and over may borrow a bike from the Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga Mobile Bicycle Fleet. To borrow a bicycle, call the visitors center at (706) 866-9241. All riders under the age of 16 must wear a helmet.

Rapid Learning Roll Class - Tonight, Wed., July 15
The Rapid Learning Whitewater Kayaking Program will be at Chester Frost County Park every Wed. with two sessions: 6 and 7 p.m., just past the park swimming area. Interested members of the public can come to either session and try the program for free. If you decide to continue, you can join the program and access equipment and instruction all year round. Street Cycling 101 July 20
Outdoor Chattanooga offers Street Cycling 101 every 3rd Monday of the month. The next class is scheduled for Mon., July 20 from 6-7 p.m. and is open to adults and kids ages 14 and older (when accompanied by an adult). Our League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructors will teach you how to be a confident and predictable rider on the road. All participants must be able to ride a bicycle. For more information, email Outdoor Chattanooga or call (423) 643-6888.

Kids Mountain Bike Camp July 27-31


Hamilton County Parks and Recreation DepartmentSuck Creek Cycle and Cohutta Adventures have partnered to host a Mountain Bike Camp for kids ages 9-15 at Enterprise South Nature Park. The camp runs Mon., July 27 through Fri., July 31 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.daily. Registration is required as classes are limited to 25 campers. Cost is $125. Campers will learn everything from basic bicycle maintenance and nutrition to techniques specific for riding off road. Campers are required to bring their own bike (preferably and mountain bike), helmet and lunch each day. To get registered or for more information call (423) 842-6748.

RainSmart Workshop August 1
The City of Chattanooga Water Quality Program is offering a free RainSmart Workshop on Sat., Aug. 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The free workshop is intended for Chattanooga Homeowners who want to learn to design and install home rain gardens and rain barrels. The workshop will be held at 1514 13th St., Chattanooga, TN, a 1920's Highland Park Home. Attending this free workshop would be the first step for those interested in applying for the RainSmart payback program for project reimbursement. Pre-registration is required and lunch will be provided. To Register, email Wyn Miller with the subject heading "AUG 1 2015Workshop Registration" and provide answers to the following questions:

Bike Chattanooga News
Effective July 1, Bike Chattanooga reduced its annual membership rate from $75 to $50. The lower rate makes it more affordable for locals and frequent visitors to get around downtown. The 24 hour and 3 day prices increased slightly. The new rates are $8 for 24 hours and $15 for a 3 day access pass. To purchase an annual membership, visit Bike Chattanooga's website

Looking for a free ride?


Several of Chattanooga's local bike shops offer free rides throughout the week. You'll want to check with the bike shop about times and locations for the rides. It's a great way to get some exercise, meet people and have fun on your bike. 
Please be advised that locations of these rides change frequently. If you are interested in one of the above rides contact the shop for more information or go to their Facebook pages.
 


SORBA Night Shift Race Series-6 Hours of TNT July 25


Night Shift is a 6 Hour Mountain Bike Race with classes for solo riders, duos, or 3 friends just looking to have fun. The race starts at 8 p.m. on Sat., July 25. Racers will complete as many full laps of the Enterprise South Nature Park mountain bike trails as they can in a 6 hour time period. Each lap will consist of all three mountain bike trails; Black Forest, TNT, Log Rhythm; and the connector trails for a total of 10 miles per lap. Wild Trails-Still Hollow Trail Race August 1


The Still Hollow Trail Race is a part of the Wild Trails race series and will be held onSat. Aug. 1 at 7:30 a.m. at Enterprise South Nature Park. Racers can choose to run the 1/2 Marathon or 10K distance. Race proceeds benefit Wild Trails, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the use, protection and expansion of nature trails in the greater Chattanooga area. Registration deadline is Tues. July 28

 


2 State/4 County Pedaling for Prevention Bike Race August 1
The 2nd annual 2 State/4 County Pedaling for Prevention Bike Race will be held on Sat., Aug. 1 at 8 a.m. The race will start at Coahulla Creek High School in Dalton, GA and follow the scenic TN/GA Border. The race offers 35, 62, 68 and 100 mile options as well as a 5K and 8K running event. The race is for serious or casual riders, with well marked courses, chip timing, sag support, door prizes, and t- shirts. Lunch will be served to racers as they complete the course from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Coahulla Creek High School. Race proceeds benefit  Prison Prevention Ministries, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works to prevent youth from entering prison and prevent inmates from returning to prison.
