The Chattanooga Lookouts (44-31) dropped both game one, 3-1, and game two, 6-1, of tonight's doubleheader against the Birmingham Barons (38-38) in front of a sold-out crowd of 6,371. This was the largest crowd of the year for Chattanooga and their first sell out of 2015.
The Barons improved to 6-11 overall and 4-2 on the road against the Lookouts. Birmingham pulled even with a 38-38 season record while advancing its second half record to 5-2. Chattanooga's best record in the Southern League fell to 44-31 and 1-6 in the second half.
Right-hander Myles Jaye (7-3, 2.72 ERA) picked up his team-leading seventh win in game one of the doubleheader. Jaye tossed six innings, allowing just three hits while striking out three. All three Birmingham runs crossed in the first inning on three hits.
Four Barons recorded hits in the first game. Both Tim Anderson and Joey DeMichele had a hit, while Brantly and Hayes each collected two hits.
Starting pitcher David Hurlbut stopped the bleeding there for the Lookouts and finished the day only allowing those three runs in five innings.New Lookouts pitcher Alex Muren came on to pitch in the sixth and threw two scoreless innings.
In the seventh the Lookouts scored their only run of the game on a Jorge Polanco RBI single with the bases loaded.

Birmingham had three more hits (nine) in game two than in game one. Three runs scored in the first inning, and three were driven in between the third, sixth and seventh innings. Marrero capped off the slugfest with a solo home run in the seventh - his team-leading 10th long-ball of the year. The round-tripper is already the sixth of the second half for Birmingham.
The Lookouts offense got a spark in the third inning on a double by Max Kepler. Adam Brett Walker II then drove in the league's leader in average on a single. Alex Wimmers started the game and earned the loss after surrendering four runs in five innings.

Saturday, the Lookouts head to Jacksonville to take on the Suns for a five-game series. LHP Brett Lee (0-1, 5.16) is on the hill for Chattanooga and will face off against RHP Trevor Williams (3-4, 4.64)
