Linda Rogers, 71, Chattanooga, died on Tuesday June 30, 2015 and went into the loving arms of Jesus.
Linda was the youngest of four children born to Roy E. and Lilah B. Rogers. Linda was born on Oct. 30, 1943, with Down’s syndrome. She has been a blessing to her family and all that knew her. She especially loved her family at Orange Grove Center.
Linda has been a part of Orange Grove since its foundation in 1953 and was one of the original clients. She loved all her time at Orange Grove and especially her “job” in the workshop. She loved to go to work to see her friends and the beloved staff. Linda lived in a residence home the last years of her life. The family would like to give a special thanks to all the workers and staff at Orange Grove and the residence home for all the love and care they have provided Linda throughout her life.
Linda loved being with her family, going to church, watching the Atlanta Braves and going to the beach (or anywhere else) with her brother “Murph” and Gloria. She never wanted to miss church and loved her church family at First Assembly of God, East Lake Baptist and Burning Bush Baptist. Linda was very loving and always invoked smiles, laughter, and hugs. She will be greatly missed.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Betty Steele, and niece, Donna Davidson.
She is survived by her brother, Murph (Gloria) Rogers; sister, Peggy (Charles) Hicks, Rossville; nephews, Roy (Brenda) Steele, Chattanooga, Dewayne Steele, Ringgold, David (Sheila) Hicks, Rossville, and Jimmy (Theresa) Hicks, Fort Oglethorpe.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 3, at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Pat Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
