Section Of Highway 153 Named For Iraq War Veteran Sgt. John Michael Sullivan

Senate Speaker Pro Tempore Bo Watson joined friends and family of the late Sgt. John Michael Sullivan on Friday to unveil a sign naming a section of Highway 153 in memory of the Iraq war veteran from Hixson.  

Mr. Sullivan, who received a purple heart and bronze star, was killed on Dec. 30, when an improvised explosive device detonated outside his Humvee in Baghdad while he was serving his second tour in Iraq. 

The segment of State Route 153 being named as the Sgt.

John M. Sullivan Memorial Highway is in Hamilton County from its intersection with Northpoint Boulevard to Hamill Road. The road was named as a result of legislation passed by the General Assembly in April.
