John W. “J.W.” Cartwright, 83, of the Foster Falls Community in Sequatchie, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015.
He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and had worked as a tugboat captain for over 44 years. He loved to hunt and fish and was an avid University of Tennessee fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Clyde Cash Cartwright; father, Frank Cartwright; mother, Ellen Haggard McCanless; step-father, Thomas McCanless; brothers, Billy and Kenneth Cartwright; grandson, Joshua Stevens; and great-grandson, Dillon Sloan.
John is survived by his sons, John (Dana) Cartwright, Jr., Richard (Donna Fulfer) Cartwright and Darren Cartwright; daughters, Debra (Ronnie) Webb, Teresa Gill and Cheryl Stevens; ten grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 5 p.m. CDT, Saturday, June 27, with Bro. Roger Webb officiating. Interment follow in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard
The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-8 p.m. CDT, Friday, June 26 and from 11 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday, June 27.
