Black Fox Elementary Students Perform at Morning Pointe
Kristin Rader has been bringing her third, fourth and fifth grade choir students from Black Fox Elementary School to the Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence in Collegedale for several years and this year was no exception. The memory care community was filled with sounds of 40 talented students singing their hearts out as they performed for residents.
Seniors Bond with Wallace A. Smith Elementary Students
Several third, fourth and fifth grade students from Wallace A. Smith Elementary School also made a recent visit to The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence and shared their talents with residents. The group, directed by Joshua Steinmann and Dustin Dotzler, put on an outstanding performance. Residents have enjoyed getting to know these students and watching them perform this year. They attended the students’ Christmas concert at the downtown Chattanooga courthouse and also surprised the singers with snacks and sweets at an afternoon rehearsal. The special bond that has formed between the residents and students is easily seen by the smiles on their faces whenever they interact with one another. You could not tell that there we 58 students at the assisted living community! Students performing and sharing their talents with residents adds to the powerful impact intergenerational activities have at Morning Pointe.
Joyful Strings at Morning Pointe
Joyful Strings members Mel Seintz, Sue Kaufman and Candy Reichert from the Collegedale Community Church came to the Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence and put on a wonderful performance for residents of the memory care community. Residents joined in as the talented musicians sang songs and strummed their instruments. Residents always enjoy watching musical performances and it brings pure joy to many when they are able to sing along and participate.
