There will be a day of prayer Thursday at the Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center for the victims' families and the churches that have been terrorized in Charleston and Memphis.
The sanctuary will be opened until 5:30 p.m. for anyone needing a place to pray. Pastor Brian Merritt will be available for anyone needing to talk.
There will be a prayer service in the sanctuary at 5:30 p.m.
Following that service, the center will close so that staff and community members can attend a prayer vigil at Renaissance Presbyterian Church that begins at 7 p.m.
The Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center at St. Andrews is a ministry of the Presbytery of East Tennessee and is devoted to advancing social justice in Chattanooga and the South.
