Mark your calendar for Sat. Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. as the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga opens the 2015 football season at Finley Stadium with Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) power Jacksonville (Ala.) State.
The Mocs-Jax State game is one of the most important non-conference matchups in the FCS this fall. Jax State edged UTC last year 26-23 in overtime.
This is the only game between two outright conference champions on the FCS regular season schedule. Both teams are garnering preseason top 10 recognition and are expected to carry those high rankings when the official polls come out later in the summer.
Overall, the Mocs have five home games and six on the road, including a regular season-ending trip to 2014 national champion Florida State.
Three of the first five games will be played at Finley Stadium.
Home Games: The other four home games are NCAA D-II foe Mars Hill (Sept, 12), followed by Furman (Oct.10), Western Carolina for Homecoming (Oct. 31) and The Citadel (Nov. 14).
