The Public Health Emergency Preparedness team at the Tennessee Department of Health Southeast Regional Office has been recognized by the National Association of County & City Health Officials for meeting all criteria for Project Public Health Ready. The Southeast Regional team received this recognition at the recent Public Health Emergency Preparedness Summit held in Atlanta.
The Project Public Health Ready, or PPHR program assists local health departments in preparing to respond to emergencies and assesses their ability to respond.
PPHR has three goals: all-hazards preparedness planning, workforce capacity development and demonstration of readiness through exercises or real events.
As part of the PPHR process, the Emergency Preparedness team will maintain a continuous quality improvement process of training and participation in exercises to improve their emergency response abilities. This continual process of ensuring public health agencies are capable of responding to an emergency will make the ten-county Southeast Region a safer place in the event of a disease outbreak or other emergency. The Southeast Region is proud of the accomplishments of the Emergency Preparedness team.
