Gerald Calvin Thee, 71 of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, May 26, 2015.

He was a member of the Chattanooga and Chief John Ross Coin Club where he served as secretary and Local 43 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. and former member of Harrison Bassmasters Club. He was a loving papaw, daddy and friend. The family described him as a witty “Old Man” who loved to fish, collect coins and was a cat lover. He enjoyed feeding the squirrels and chipmunks peanuts everyday. He is now with his Lord and Savior.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.

Survivors include his son, James D. Herring of Baton Rouge, La.; daughters, Holly (Wesley) Michelle Thee Blewer of Chattanooga and Misty (Gene) Haynes of Chattanooga; brothers, Joe Thee of Lexington, Mo., and Herman Thee of Blue Springs, Mo.; sister, Jo An Marsh of Sedalia of Missouri; grandchildren, Alyssa, Nevaeh, River, Isabelle, Owen, Chace, Christian, and Caley; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30, at 3 p.m. in the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Pastor Shannon Greer officiating. Interment will be on Monday, June 1, at 2:30 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, from noon until the hour of service.
