Sheriff Eric Watson announced that the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office’s second Absolute Auction was a success on May 16.
The sheriff reported the auction netted the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office some $58,706, while items belonging to Bradley County Fire netted $5,878. The total amount between the two county departments with items in Saturday’s auction totaled $64,584.
Numerous used office items, such as desks, chairs and cabinets were auctioned to the highest bidders. A large number of other items, such as workout equipment and more, which had been in storage for the past number of years, had been cleared for auction and was sold. Several vehicles, some seized and some formerly in use as patrol cars, were also sold via auction.
Sheriff Watson said at the conclusion of the auction. “I’m excited by the possibilities, as we were able to purchase necessary items for our officers from money collected in December’s auction. These are needs we were able to meet without spending a penny of Bradley County’s tax money. It certainly looks like we’ll be able to do the same with the funds cleared from the latest auction.”
The sheriff concluded by saying, “I want to thank John Sanders and his group from Crye-Leike Auctions for all their hard work…as well as the BCSO staff for handling the paperwork that it takes for such an auction.”
