John Edward Alford, 71, died on May 27, 2015, at a local hospital.
He was born on July 27, 1943, in Homer, La., to the late John Edward and Mattie Brown Alford.
His formative education took place in Homer, Louisiana. He later attended Southern University and graduated in 1968, with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He rendered 34 years of dedicated service to Tennessee Valley Service in Power Control Center.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hampton Alford; children, Quintin (Domina) Alford and Johnita Alford; grandchildren, Courtnay Moon, Coleman and Linden Alford; brothers, Franklin (Bertha) Alford, Rogers (Cassandra) Brown, and Reverend David Charles Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, at 2nd Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery – Gate Time at 12:30 p.m.
The body will lie in state after noon on Monday and family will receive friends from 5:30-7 p.m.
