Christine Stone Waldrop, 87, of Benton, TN, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at her residence.
She was a 61 year faithful and active member of Mt. View Baptist Church. She loved to go to church and cook. Her family will always remember Sunday as “Mammaw Day”. After church they gathered at her house for lunch and enjoyed the food she had lovingly prepared. She enjoyed her Sunday afternoon watching “the children” play. She also will be remembered for her quick wit and great sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl Waldrop; brothers, Emerson Stone, Newt Stone, Sanford Stone and Buford Stone; and sisters, Alice Norwood Burnette, Zona Wyatt Williams, Etta Cross and Essie Bishop Crump.
She is survived by her children, Billy (Carol) Waldrop, Jimmy (Ann) Waldrop, Stanley Waldrop and Janice (Ricky) Frazier; grandchildren, Alicia (Bob) Oswell, Jason (Denise) Waldrop, Brennan (Holly) Waldrop, Kim (Tim) deRoos, Darrell (Misty) Waldrop, Bridget Duke, Justin(fiancé, Amber Deal), Jared (Jessica) Frazier and Christy (Russ) Swafford; nine great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond (Helen) Stone; sister, Anna Gene Smith; sister-in-law, Jeanette Waldrop; and several other special nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
After retiring from Benton Manufacturing, she devoted many years caring for her husband until his passing in 1988. During that time and afterwards she babysat numerous children of the community and family. She ended her babysitting career at the age of 82 caring for her great-great-grandson, Zayne.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, at Mt. View Baptist Church with the Reverend Pete Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Pallbearers are Jason Waldrop, Brennan Waldrop, Darrell Waldrop, Justin Frazier, Jared Frazier and Jay Waldrop.
