Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga has named Jason Hill as the new women’s basketball coach.
“Jason is an outstanding coach who is highly respected and will continue to build on the success that Notre Dame High School has established in women’s basketball,” said Director of Athletics Matt Pobieglo. “He is an excellent teacher of the game and a proven leader that embodies the standard of excellence in our Notre Dame community.”
Hill served as an assistant coach at Notre Dame during the 2007-2008 season before becoming the head coach for the girls program at Signal Mountain. He led the Lady Eagles for six seasons before returning to Notre Dame in 2014 as an assistant coach with Wes Moore. Hill has been the Athletic Director and PE Teacher at St. Jude School since 2002.
An All-City player at Ooltewah, Hill played two years at Cleveland State and finished his collegiate career at the University of West Florida. Hill continued his basketball career playing professionally for Team Ajaccio in France.
Notre Dame women’s basketball has also promoted two current assistant for the 2015-2016 season. De Lamb is returning as the varsity assistant coach and will head the junior varsity program. Sydni Abbajay returns for her 2nd season as an assistant coach with the Irish.
Lamb coached alongside Hill at Signal Mountain and headed up the middle school program. He led the middle school girls team to the HCAC Championship in 2011. Lamb also coached the middle school boys basketball teams at St. Jude for several years before teaming up with Hill to coach the girls team.
Abbajay finished a stellar career playing for Hill at Signal Mountain. She then began her coaching career serving as an assistant at Signal Mountain. In 2014, she then took over the girls middle school program at St. Jude where she led them to the ISC Conference Championship.
