The City of Chattanooga Youth & Family Development Department announces the grand re-opening of the Hixson YFD Center. Formerly a middle school, the 25,000 square foot Hixson YFD Center sits on 8 acres and features classrooms, an art studio, a game room, a multi-media room, a senior activities room and one of the largest gyms of all the city’s YFD centers. Kim Stewart will be the facility manager.
“We are excited about re-opening the Hixson YFD Center and have worked hard for this day to come.
Thank you to Hixson residents for being patient as we made improvement to this facility that will impact the community for years to come,” said Lurone “Coach” Jennings, administrator of the City’s Department of Youth & Family Development.
The City invites area residents to take part in the Grand Re-Opening celebration on Friday, from 6-8 p.m. at 5400 School Dr. in Hixson.
Friday’s event will include play zones for children, face painting, jump houses, tours of the facility and light refreshments. Mayor Andy Berke, City Councilman Ken Smith, YFD Administrator Lurone “Coach” Jennings and community members will give opening remarks before the ribbon cutting ceremony.
