Claudette Payne Griffin, 53, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on Saturday, May 23, 2015.

She was born in Asheville, N.C. on April 16, 1962, and, at the age of seven, her family moved to Chattanooga. She graduated from Samford with an undergrad degree, from UTC with an MBA, and from Lee University with a master's in education. Mrs. Griffin taught at Chattanooga Christian School for the past six years, having a passion for teaching children reading and math. 

Mrs. Griffin was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Payne; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Yancy and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas V. Payne.

She is survived by her husband, David Griffin; sons, Carter Griffin and Spencer Griffin; father, Edsel Payne. 

Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Chris Ehlers officiating. The family will receive friends prior to service from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the World Mission of First Presbyterian Church or World Vision.
