Marie Dell Orr, 77, of Chattanooga, died on Friday, May 22, 2015 at her residence.
Marie was born in Ft. Payne, Al., but spent the majority of her adult life as a Chattanooga resident, where she raised her three beloved daughters alongside her husband of 55 years, Woodie McCain Orr. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved cooking, gardening, sewing, and fishing. She was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church and retired from Shaw Industries.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Woodie McCain Orr and by her brother, Russell Lane Scott.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Steve) Scott, Jo Ann (Chris) Prater, and Doris Kidwell; grandchildren Clarissa Sewell, Daphne (John) Allan, Kevin (Katie) Kidwell, Miranda (James) Barnes, Sidney and Thurman Sewell, Joshua (Tammy) Kidwell, and Jeremy Kidwell; great-grandchildren, Olivia Kidwell, Jazlynn Winnie, Anna, and Audrey Kidwell; step-great grandchildren, Isaac Plata, Isabel and Skylar Barnes; brothers, Richard and Danny Scott; sisters, Marion Evers, Linda Thomas, Frankie Pendergrass, Jennie Wall, Joyce Shook, and Zoey Brown; and a number of aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 24, at Valley View Chapel from 1-5 p.m. and on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway, Chattanooga.
