McCallie's Phillips, Baylor's Parker Win State Track Titles

Winning 400 Relay Helps McCallie Finish Fourth In D-II

MURFREESBORO -- McCallie had one individual state track champ on Friday here at the Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and one relay win as the Blue Tornado finished in fourth place with 63.5 points.

Trel Phillips had a best effort of 49 feet, 10.5 inches to take first place in the shot put while teammate Jay Roberts claimed fourth with a best of 47-10.75.

The 400-meter relay team was also victorious with a time of 42.33 seconds.

Baylor's Ryan Parker was the only other individual champ among the guys as he won the discus with a toss of 164 feet, seven inches.

J.J. Lewis posted a time of 10.879 seconds to finish second in the 100 while later getting eighth in the 200 with a time of 22.70 seconds.

 Alex Trotter finished sixth in both the 100 and 200 dashes while Myles Patton was fourth in the 200 and seventh in the long jump.

Tons Ferguson had a fourth in the triple jump after getting fifth in the high jump. He later finished seventh in both the 110 high hurdles and the 300 intermediates.

Alex Sumida had fourth-place finishes in the 1600 and 800 runs for Baylor while Jackson Goodwin was eighth in the 1600 and 3200 runs as Baylor finished tenth with 34 points.

Brentwood Academy was first with 151 points while MBA and Father Ryan finished in a tie for second with 76 points apiece.  McCallie was next with 63.5.

McMinn County's Logan McKenzie was second in the AAA 800 run with a time of 1:55.20 while Notre Dame's A.J. Flemister was third in the A/AA 400 with a time of 50.34 seconds.

Rhea County's Chase Sholl won the AAA decathlon earlier in the week with a total of 6,097 points.
