Police have shut down a house that officials said was operating as a prostitution center near a local school.
Police said, "Over the past two weeks the Chattanooga Police Department has received multiple anonymous citizen complaints concerning possible narcotics and prostitution activity located at and near 2210 East 17th St.
"That has resulted in four arrests and the condemnation of the residence.
"Once at the address, police were invited in by the tenant, Roland Haygood. He stated he was the only one who lived there, but police observed numerous signs indicating that the residence was being used for a 'good time' house. Asked about the signs,. Haygood stated that he does allow 'girls' to use the rooms occasionally.
"While Haygood was not currently engaged in any illegal activity, police did note the residence to be in poor shape and contacted city of Chattanooga Code Enforcement who responded to the scene to inspect the property. Code Enforcement did a walkthrough of the property and condemned the residence on the same day.
"In addition to the home being condemned, the week prior officers with the Chattanooga Police Department arrested four individuals for alleged prostitution within the area.
