The 6th Cavalry Museum invites the public to attend the Memorial Service at the 6th Cavalry Memorial Garden which is located on Barnhardt Circle near the 6th Cavalry Museum, on Sunday. The 10 a.m. church service includes a blessing of the bikes and memorial service for 4/6 aviators Captain Anne M.
Montgomery, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Frank A. Buoniconti III, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Shan J. Satterfield and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Lucas D. Sigfrid. All four were members of the 4th Squadron, 6th Attack Reconnaissance Squadron, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington and died December 12, 2011, during a helicopter training exercise. A tablet honoring these soldiers will be placed in the 6th Cavalry Memorial Garden alongside the WWII monument that lists the names of the 106 6th Cavalrymen who were killed in World War II.
Members of the 3rd Squadron / 12th Cavalry Regiment will be attending as the Honor Guard to place the memorial wreath as they close their Reunion week-end. The 12th Cavalry was stationed at Fort Oglethorpe 1905 – 1909.
