The Nightfall Concert Series continues Friday with the acoustic folk rock of headliner Eric Pulido (of Midlake) and Friends at 8 p.m., preceded by local opener Megan Saunders and the Driftless at 7 p.m.

Presented and produced by Chattanooga Presents, Nightfall is a 19-week free outdoor concert series held every Friday at Miller Plaza and features headline performances by a broad spectrum of music performed by superior national and international artists.

Review for Eric Pulido:
Eric Pulido is frontman and guitarist for Midlake, the acclaimed progressive folk band from Texas, which was signed to Bella Union in the UK, and whose 2006 album “The Trials of Van Occupanther” topped numerous Top 10 Albums lists that year. In 2010 the band released “The Courage of Others” to equally glowing praise. Known for their harmonies and chord structures that are mysterious and lovely, Midlake survived a personnel upheaval in 2012 and has made a stylistic change toward a more rock sound under Pulido’s leadership, while still maintaining their signature florid instrumentation.

Pulido also stays busy running a coffee company Cappulido and Nova Posta Vinyl, a label he started with fellow Bella Union artist Robert Gomez.

Local contemporary folk band Megan Saunders and The Driftless will open this week’s Nightfall with a 7 p.m. set. Megan, together with Jason Reed (guitar) and Ashley Cofield (violin), builds a sense of story and place, with a sound that spans playful and luminous to sultry and haunting, all the while keeping a foot in American roots music.  Together they create a joyous space, a refuge that you can share.  As Tom Miller (concert programmer) explains, “The plaintive original melodies of Megan Saunders and The Driftless can take you to an earthy, vintage, dreamlike setting. They will hold you there like a feast of comfort food with no bones to pick or rinds to peel or bitter tastes to distract - seamless pleasure.”

Food trucks and non-alcoholic drink concessions are available on site. No outside food or beverages are allowed to be brought in to Nightfall.
