Cleveland State To Host 7th Annual Environmental Awareness Fair

  • Thursday, April 9, 2015

Cleveland State Community College will be hosting the 7th annual environmental awareness celebration on Saturday, April 11 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. called “It’s All About the Green!” This celebration will be held adjacent to the Innovation Center, located on the north end of the CSCC campus, beside the Cleveland State Softball Field. In the event of rain, it will be held in the L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium. There will be food, presentations, entertainment, and various vendors from the Cleveland community discussing the importance and benefits of “going green.”

Since the event will be held in a new location this year beside the Innovation Center, the majority of the businesses located in the Innovation Center, which is an expansion of the Cleveland/Bradley Business Incubator (CBBI), will be open during the Green Day for tours, including:

?          Tennessee Automation Services--
builds custom control panels that will save energy
and operate everything from waste water to food and beverage.

They specialize in
energy management systems, wiring systems and custom control panels.
?          Kim Currin Creations-- makes old bottles and jars new again by turning them into
glasses, candle holders, business card holders, jewelry, etc. The process involves the
combination of cutting, sanding, and kiln fusing. Kim also creates other glassware and
art objects using a molding and fusing process.
?          SerendipityCB--
offers 100% natural and eco-friendly products that are made through a
totally natural and green manufacturing process, so the products and the process is good
for our environment. Owner Cheryl Barker prides herself in using only the purist
ingredients, made under green conditions, in her body products.
?          Legendary Images--
specializes in family, and senior portraits, commercial, events, and
sports photography.  Owners Greg and Sherri Conway started photography back in the
70’s when everything was shot on film, which meant a lot of harsh chemicals. All
photography they shoot now is done digitally, which makes it a very green industry, and
            no chemicals are needed.
?          G-Daddy’s BBQ & Catering—Anthony “G-Daddy” Dunn has been perfecting his slow-
cooking meat skills since he was old enough to strike a match! With the help of his wife,
Karen, they provide quality, melt in your mouth BBQ and sides to Cleveland and the
surrounding counties with their BBQ and catering business. They also use untreated,
natural Hickory and Apple wood to cook their meats and vegetables, natural organic
soaps, spray cleaners and floor cleaners, as well as a green water heater for all of their
cleaning needs—wanting to make their business as green as possible.
?          Alcatraz Fitness—Having been involved in personal training for over a decade,
Owner Dave Thompson and his Nationally Certified Trainers developed a program that is
unique in its scope, benefit and effectiveness in order to help you maintain a healthy
balance between your fitness goals and your life. He uses zero electricity for his training
program. All of his equipment is power free, and he uses the natural light of the outdoors
