The Chattanooga Zoo is hosting its 2nd annual Latino Family Festival. The festival will be held throughout the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. daily.
The Latino Family Festival is a celebration of the Latino heritage in Chattanooga and all the South American animals living at the Chattanooga Zoo. From 10 a.m.-3 p.m., all Zoo visitors will be able to enjoy animal enrichment, discounts in the Zoo Gift Shop, Latin music throughout the Corcovado Jungle exhibit, an Animal Show, dance performances, and more. All activities are free with regular Zoo admission.
The Latino Family Festival weekend will begin with the re-opening of the renovated capybara exhibit. The official unveiling ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. The grand re-opening ceremony is open to the public and media is encouraged to attend.
“Chattanooga is ever growing, including the Latino community,” says Chattanooga Zoo President and CEO, Darde Long. “The Latino Family Festival Day is a great way for us to show our appreciation of the vibrant Latino culture and to showcase the wonderful animals originating in Latin America at the Zoo.”
