The Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority will host a public input session on the Multimodal Transportation Center Study on Thursday, from 5:30-7 p.m., at the Chattanooga Choo Choo’s Roosevelt Room.
Officials said, "As the City has adopted a Complete Streets policy to prioritize the needs of all road users, freedom of choice in transportation becomes increasingly relevant. Connecting walking, bicycling, ADA accessibility, transit and motor vehicle travel is the basis for complete streets planning.
"The goal of the MTCS is to create a new transportation center and gateway for the Chattanooga metropolitan area that provides personal transportation choices, enhances the image and effectiveness of public transportation, and serves as a catalyst for economic development.
As part of this process, the MTCS will assess existing CARTA routes and other opportunities to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of public transportation for the region."
Lisa Maragnano, executive director for CARTA, will introduce the MTCS consultant team who will present context for public input on CARTA’s operations and future transportation center. “We are looking forward to hearing from the community as to their wants and needs for public transit,” Ms. Maragnano said.
All interested members of the public are welcomed to attend this interactive session. Additional information on the project may be found at http://www.MTCstudy.org.
