Hannah Eitzen, 16, of Hixson, has been accepted and will attend Interlochen Arts Camp, a summer arts program for aspiring artists grades 3 through 12.  Ms. Eitzen, the daughter of Juanita Eitzen, will study music at the Camp and perform with the World Youth Wind Symphony.

Ms. Eitzen is a junior with a 4.0 GPA at Soddy Daisy High School. She is an active member of the Soddy Daisy High School marching band, jazz band and wind ensemble. She is a band co-captain and drum major. Ms. Eitzen is a student manager for and member of the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Youth Orchestra. She has participated in honor bands such as Hamilton County All-County, East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, Lower Area Junior Clinic, All-East Senior Clinic, and All-State as well as honor bands at Tennessee Tech, UTC, and MTSU. She has played in the Sydney Opera House (June, 2013 with Soddy Daisy High School Band) and was 1 of 10 students invited to play with the United States Navy Band at Memorial Auditorium in February, 2014.

Last summer, she attended Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts. Recently, Ms. Eitzen was one of six students to perform for the Tennessee Bandmasters Association Solo Recital in Memphis.

Ms. Eitzen has volunteered at the Chattanooga Zoo, and works a part-time job. She did receive a partial scholarship towards the tuition for camp. To help with the remaining balance and other costs associated with attending, a Go Fund Me account has been created at www.gofundme.com/nec7a4
