Police Blotter: Shots Fired On Mallette Road; Pit Bull Missing

  • Saturday, April 25, 2015

Police said shots were fired on Mallette Road, and a pit bull is missing.

Janice Pritchett said she heard 2-3 gunshots.

Her neighbor, Ronald Smith, said he fired three shots after Ms. Pritchett's black pit bull came after him.

He said the dog approached him barking and growling on his front porch. He said he frantically reached inside the front door to get his Cobra 380 handgun.

After the gunfire, the pit bull ran away. It has not been seen since.

Police said the dog already had one aggressive dog case on it in City Court.

Police said no charges would be brought against Mr. Smith.

At Mojo Burrito in St. Elmo, employees said a man was at the restaurant for seven hours drinking beer.

It was also suspected that he was watching pornography on a tablet and possibly filming customers and employees.

An employee walked behind him to check out the tablet, but he held it close to his face so it could not be seen.

The man finally left in a white 1996 VW sedan.

He was described as a white male wearing a black shirt and black pants.

Store employees said they do not want him to return.

A woman on Green Forest Lane got a call from a man with a foreign accent.

He identified himself as Kevin Keith with the IRS. He said the agency was about to take her home for taxes owed.

The man said she could save it by sending $1,900 in pre-paid Green Dot cards.

She realized it was a scam when the man told her not to notify police.

The woman said the call and threat made her extremely anxious.

Another Chattanooga resident getting a similar call from a far-off low life fell for it.

A woman on Snow Street said the man, who had an Hispanic accent, said he was Jim Carter with Electric Federal Tax System.

He said the IRS was going to bring a lawsuit against her unless she made a payment on $2,747 she owed from 2007-2010.

The woman said she could only come up with $700, and the man said that would be okay.

She sent the money, "then realized it was a scam."
