Morning Pointe of Chattanooga at Shallowford residents took a trip to Lookout Mountain for a surprise birthday party for one of their friends and fellow residents, Ruth Skates.
Ms. Skates’ daughter, Patsy, had been planning the party for over a month and wanted it to be special for her mother. It was her 92nd birthday on Easter Sunday.
So, the following day, residents loaded up in the bus for a “joy” ride (that’s what they told Ruth.)
Organizers said, "It was amazing that everyone was able to keep the secret. As they headed up the mountain, Ruth got excited and exclaimed that they were headed in the direction of her daughter. She talked non-stop about her house there, so just imagine her surprise when the bus pulled on to her daughter’s street. Patsy and her husband, Steve, own a hotel on the mountain, right next door to their home. It was such a beautiful place with a great view."
All the residents had a great time celebrating with Ruth and enjoyed sandwiches, pizza, birthday cake and ice cream cones.
