Earnest Lee “Ernie” Lawson Sr., 64, of Georgetown, TN, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Erlanger Medical Center.
Ernie was born on April 26, 1950 to the late Newton & Bula Lawson. He was a gifted auto mechanic that worked for many years at the Volunteer Garage and also after leaving there was a self-employed auto mechanic for the remainder of his life.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Dub Lawson.
Ernie is survived by his companion of 15 years, Tammy Cofer; two daughters, Angie (Keith) Jones and Pam (Terry) Lawson; one son, Earnest Lee Lawson Jr. “Britches”; two step-daughters, Amber (Wayne) Wilson and Tiffany Huggins; four brothers, Dean (Jenell) Lawson, Buck (Wendy) Lawson, Joe Lawson and Richie Lawson; one sister, Lois Hixson; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Morrison and Maddison; two beloved four legged companions, “Lucille” and “Hopper”; numerous other extended family members; and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 24 from 5-8 p.m. at the Good Hope Baptist Church located 2601 Armstrong Ferry Road, Decatur, TN 37322.
A celebration of his life is planned for Saturday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Bill Pearman officiating. Interment will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery with Colby Lawson, Steve Jones, Chris Harris, Tyler Lawson, Addison Carden, Brandon Perry, Shane Lawson and Nick Perry serving as pallbearers.
