Military Children Honored At Creative Discovery Museum Sunday

  • Thursday, April 23, 2015

Governor Bill Haslam has declared April as Month of the Military Child in Tennessee.  The American Red Cross is holding an event to recognize military children and the special contribution they make as their parent/guardian is called to serve.

The event will be held on Sunday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Creative Discovery Museum, 321 Chestnut St.

Officials said, "'Military Kids Serve Too' is one of many efforts taking place in April to celebrate military children across the state.

At 'Military Kids Serve Too,' children whose parent/guardian is currently serving in the US Armed Forces will be honored with a customized challenge coin commemorating their special designation as our nation’s youngest patriots."

Remarks and coining ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. in the auditorium.

'Military Kids Serve Too' is made possible through the contribution of a Red Cross Tiffany Circle Member.  Program partners include Operation Military Kids and TN National Guard Child and Youth Program.  'Military Kids Serve Too' is sponsored by First Tennessee Foundation and Raymond James.
