Outdoor Chattanooga Named A Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Business By The League Of American Bicyclists

  • Wednesday, April 22, 2015

The League of American Bicyclists has renewed the City of Chattanooga’s Outdoor Chattanooga division as a Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB), recognizing its dedication to encouraging cycling and offering support to people riding bicycles for recreation and transportation. Outdoor Chattanooga joins more than 950 bicycle friendly businesses today from across the country.

Outdoor Chattanooga houses the busiest station in the Bike Chattanooga bicycle transit system. The department contributes to safer streets through regularly scheduled bicycle safety classes, educational, guided rides and children’s programming.  The department also serves as the bicycle education partner for the Chattanooga Department of Transportation’s driver education program and the Chattanooga Police Department’s Safe Bicycling Initiative.

Outdoor Chattanooga promotes bicycling as a partner to economic drivers such as IRONMAN Chattanooga and the Volkswagen USA Cycling Professional Road and Time Trial National Championships, as well as providing logistical support to community advocacy events such as National Bike to Work Day, Bike to Riverbend and Bike to the Ballpark.

With the announcement of 161 new and renewing BFBs today in 46 states and Washington, D.C., Outdoor Chattanooga joins a cutting-edge group of more than 950 local businesses, government agencies and Fortune 500 companies across the United States that are transforming the American workplace.
