NAACP Town Hall, Severing The School To Prison Pipeline

  • Sunday, April 19, 2015

The Chattanooga-Hamilton County NAACP will host "Restorative Justice in our Schools: Severing the School to Prison Pipeline," on Tuesday.

"Statistics show that many African-American and minority children first enter through the pipeline in preschool (4-5 years old), and many will amass criminal records and convictions due to the disparate treatment they will receive because of suspensions, expulsions and zero-tolerance policies," said Dr. Elenora Woods, president Chattanooga-Hamilton County NAACP.  "We must say no to this societal menace that funnels our children out of the schoolhouse and into the jailhouse. We call on parents, educators, and the community to come out in full force on April 21, lend us your voices and ideas as we try to find solutions to end this darkness and let our children's lights shine and dreams live."

The town hall will be held at the NAACP Branch Office, 756 E. MLK Blvd.
