Chattanooga State's Collegiate High Preview Night Will Be Held On April 21

  • Friday, April 17, 2015

Collegiate High Preview Night at Chattanooga State will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. in room 126 of the Omniplex building on the main campus of the college. The event is free and open to all high school age students and their parents.

Collegiate High is a partnership between the Hamilton County Department of Education and Chattanooga State. Collegiate High serves as a launching pad for students in grades 9-12 to be "ahead of the game" and expedite their education.

Officials said, "Students in the program savor the academic challenges they experience and are quickly amazed by what they learn and how it will help them as they continue their educational path."

High school freshmen were allowed into the program for the first time during the 2014-15 school year. Several freshmen were asked to share their thoughts about Collegiate High.

“It’s nice to be challenged and get a head start on college,” stated James Helferich.

Lacey Mahaffey said, “I enjoy the academic environment and wonderful opportunities.”

“I love how friendly people are and the idea of graduating high school with an associate degree. It’s giving me a very helpful start to my future,” said Macey Mahaffey.

Veronica Volz said, “I love coming to school and getting to be my complete self … everyone here is their complete self and I love that because everyone is different but we all get along.”

“Collegiate High has provided me with the phenomenal opportunity to pursue my career,” stated Prosperity Antoine.

Officials said, "Collegiate High has all the right ingredients in place to assure student success. Many students have graduated with both a high school diploma and an associate degree; some have entered universities at the junior level. Collegiate High is a great way for parents to save money on the rising costs of higher education and a golden opportunity for students to get a head start on their careers."
