Ridley Barron, nationally known speaker and advocate for patient safety, will be the featured speaker at the 16th Annual Pediatric Educational Potpourri sponsored by Children’s Hospital at Erlanger on Thursday, April 30, at The Colonnade in Ringgold, Ga.
Mr. Barron’s keynote address, “Every ½ Second Counts,” stems from a double tragedy in his own family during 2004. After a tragic car accident took the life of his wife, his 17-month-old son, Josh, was killed by a medication error at the hospital where the toddler was treated after the accident.

The 16th Annual Pediatric Educational Potpourri, designed for healthcare and emergency medicine professionals who care for pediatric and neonatal patients, will take place from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Educational sessions will be conducted by healthcare professionals from Erlanger and Children’s Hospital, with topics as diverse as recent trends in drug abuse, sickle cell research, and chest wall deformities. About Ridley Barron, National Speaker
Ridley Barron is a former senior pastor, author, nationally known speaker and tireless advocate for patient safety. After a tragic car accident that took his wife, Mr. Ridley’s 17-month-old son, Josh, was killed by a medication error at the hospital where he was cared for after the accident.
Since that day in April 2004, Mr. Ridley has written and now speaks with great candor about the events of that fateful day. He has appeared at numerous churches, hospitals, medical conferences, and meetings of various professional health organizations from coast to coast.
Mr. Ridley was nominated for the prestigious 2011 MITSS Hope Award. This award, presented by Medically Induced Trauma Support Services, INC, recognizes people who exemplify the mission of MITSS: Supporting Healing and Restoring Hope to patients, families, and clinicians impacted by adverse medical events, medical errors, or unexpected outcomes. Mr. Ridley was also a featured speaker at the 2011 MGMA Annual Conference in Las Vegas, NV. His message has been published in several magazines and medical publications as he works to bring good from this tragic accident. In January 2012 he released his long awaited book, Twist of Faith, which transparently records his journey from shocking tragedy to unfolding grace.
