David Walters
David Walters, UTC piano instructor, will present a solo piano recital in Roland Hayes Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Included on the program will be works by Mozart, Brahms, and jazz-influenced Russian composer Nikolai Kapustin, plus a piano transcription of a recording by legendary jazz pianist Bill Evans.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Mr. Walters currently serves on the piano faculties of UTC, Cadek Conservatory of Music, and Chattanooga State Community College, where he teaches classical and jazz piano.
Mr. Walters is known in the fields of jazz and classical music. He has performed at universities throughout the region, and his performance resume includes many chamber music concerts with both UTC and Cadek faculty members, solo piano recitals, local and regional appearances with his jazz trio, the David Walters Trio, and numerous appearances throughout the area as a solo jazz pianist.
Mr. Walters has performed at many public and private events, including the United States Governors Conference and an event for former President Gerald Ford. He has performed five times at Chattanooga's Riverbend Festival and has appeared on seven CDs. He was acknowledged for his work on the Southside Jazz Junction Christmas CD.
