Kelsey Blayne Kapherr, 23, of Harrison, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

Kelsey was born at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee on June 6, 1991. She was a life long resident of Hamilton County.

Kelsey was an amazing mother, daughter and sister. She loved her children deeply and dedicated her every waking hour to them. Her two brothers, step brother, and four step sisters were not only her true friends but she loved each of them deeply. Kelsey was a bright shining light to her family and all others around her. This simple story says everything about Kelsey’s personality and spunk.

As a toddler she had left her toys strung out over the house. When her mom told Kelsey she was going to suck them up in the vacuum cleaner, Kelsey responded with a “hang on just a minute and I will show you which ones I do not want”.

She attended elementary school at Snow Hill Elementary, middle school at Hunter Middle and high school at Chattanooga Central High. Kelsey was a cheerleader, softball player and played other sports from time to time.

We all love Kelsey and will miss her dearly. However, we hold onto her memory that will live through her three amazing children.

Survivors include her three children, James Kayden Pendergrass, Kyleigh Marie Pendergrass, Khloe Monroe Pendergrass, father, Mike Kapherr, of Ooltewah, mother, Jill Coffey, of Chattanooga, two brothers, Brandon Khol Kapherr, of Rock Spring, James Kyle Kapherr, of Ooltewah, step brother, Dalton Johnson, of Harrison, four step sisters, Nicole Coffey, of Atlanta, Caroline, Marie and Faith Coffey, all of Lookout Mountain, maternal grandmother, Dianne Mitchell, of Rock Spring, paternal grandfather, Jim Kapherr, of Ringgold, and maternal grandmother, Ruth Taylor, of Ooltewah.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Norris Clift and Reverend Herman Kapherr officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.  Khol Kapherr, Kyle Kapherr, Dalton Johnson, Raun Taylor, Tyler Kapherr, Kevin Harris, and Matthew Harris will serve as pallbearers. The Little Lady Vols softball team will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 4–8 p.m. on Friday, March 6, at the funeral home.
