Amber Nicole Gaston
An arrest has been made in a case in which a man said he was robbed by two women armed with a large knife.
Amber Nicole Gaston, 32, of 1511 S. Orchard Knob Ave., is charged with aggravated robbery.
In the incident on Friday, Antonio Hardaway said he spoke to a female on the phone. He said he had met her once before at a convenience store, where he asked for her phone number.
He said he opened the door to his apartment on Sunflower Lane and they went into his bedroom. He said the female sent a text message to someone else. A few minutes later another female came into the apartment.
Hardaway said the second woman handed a large knife to the first woman, who was identified as Ms. Gaston. She placed it into her purse.
After some conversation, the second female reached into the purse and grabbed the knife, then began brandishing.
Hardaway said the women told him he was being robbed and they demanded money.
He said he was in fear for his life "because the knife was large and he was outnumbered."
Hardaway said he gave them $80 and ran from the apartment.
The women got into a waiting vehicle that was running. It was possibly a dark-colored Savoy. The vehicle sped off toward Highway 58.
Detectives checked the number that Hardaway called and it came back to an escort service. Police said he adamantly denied that he was attempting to purchase services from an escort.
Police said Ms. Gaston has prior arrests for prostitution.
The name of Ms. Gaston came up, and Hardaway picked her out of a lineup, saying he was 100 percent sure.
