Pace, FL – The Dalton State women’s golf team (337-322-321 = 980) finished eighth of 13 teams in the two day Lady Argonaut Golf Tournament, which concluded Tuesday at the Stonebrook Golf Club in the Florida Panhandle.
“I’m really proud of the way we bounced back after a tough first round,” said Lady Roadrunner Coach Jim McGrew. “The course played tough both days with windy conditions. The greens created a lot of putting problems for all of the teams.
I was really proud of the way we handled our first 54-hole tournament, especially the way we played in the final round on Monday. We played better while most teams faded. We still have things to work out over the next three weeks, but we are getting close to where we want to be. This was a loaded NCAA D-II tournament and after the first round we proved that we could compete.”
Florida Southern (307-312-311 = 930) took home the team trophy while the Mocs’ Emily Ryner (72-75-76 = 223) earned medalist honors. Limestone College (310-311-310 = 931) finished one stroke back in second. Third place Florida Tech (310-312-311 = 933) was only three strokes out of first. West Georgia (312-310-318 = 940) was fourth. The hosts from West Florida (314-320-318 = 952) finished fifth.
Lee (317-331-309 = 957) was sixth. West Alabama (329-327-315 = 971) finished seventh. Armstrong State (328-329-330 = 987) was seven strokes back of Dalton State. The Pirates’ Brendie Rockholt, a Dalton High graduate, finished with a 54-hole 249. Union University (TN) finished tenth with a team total of 1,049 and Emmanuel (GA) was 11th with 1,055. Spring Hill College (1,171) and Ohio Valley University (1,176) brought up the rear.
