ssell Thomas Williams, 67, of LaFayette, Georgia, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
He was born in LaFayette, Georgia to the late Russell and Sarah Thomas Williams. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, recipient of three Purple Hearts, two Overseas Bars and expert M-14 Rifle commendation. He was an industrial engineer in the carpet industry and former employee of Koch Foods, Aladdin Carpet, Candle Wick Yarns and Lookout Mountain Transportation Service. He had resided in the LaFayette area for the past 10 years. He enjoyed gardening, was a good handy man and mechanic. He attended New City Fellowship Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Williams; sisters, Rhonda Paulk and Marsha Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Erica Fay Williams of LaFayette; daughters, Sarah (Myche) Barrett of Ringgold, Lisa (Jeff) Johnson of Chatsworth, GA; siblings, Charles Williams of Rossville, Theodore "Ted" Williams, Russell "Buddy" Williams, both of Ringgold, Patricia Whaley of Fort Oglethorpe, Mary Lou Hartgraves of Cleveland, Trudy "Tiny" Hayes of LaFayette, Marie Williams of Ringgold, grandchildren, Drew Crumbley, Alex Johnson, Tielor Johnson, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 7, from 5–9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 8, at New City Fellowship Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga.
Burial will follow at Chattanooga Veterans National Cemetery – Chattanooga.
