Hamilton County Democrats met Saturday at the IBEW Local 175 for their Biennial Reorganization Convention.

The purpose of the convention was to elect officers, review bylaws, and discuss strategies for the 2016 election cycle.

Terry Lee was re-elected to a second term as chairman and Joe Boshears to a second term as treasurer. Demetrus Coonrod was elected vice chairman and Ashley Collins was chosen as secretary. Jacqueline Dowell, who served the past two years as vice chairwoman, and Annie Hall, who served as secretary, did not seek re-election.

Over 100 Democrats, including State Rep. JoAnne Favors, City Councilman Russell Gilbert, City Councilman and Democratic State Executive Committeeman Chris Anderson, and State Executive Committee members Betty Ann Allgood, Jeff Brown, and Sandy Lusk, participated in the convention.

“This is a great day for the Hamilton County Democratic Party. Our party is growing younger,” Chairman Lee said. He stated, “With an influx of board and executive committee members under the age of 40, we are gaining the energy and expertise of a new generation as we build for the future. We are the Party of Opportunity. I encourage all who want to join us to contact me at 304-2152."
