Representative Chuck Fleischmann voted on Thursday for H.R. 2, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act. After passage, Rep. Fleischmann released the following statement:
“By repealing and replacing Medicare’s Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR), we are not only improving health care for seniors, but we are saving money for taxpayers. Without this permanent solution, doctors who treat Medicare patients would face drastic reductions in reimbursement payments, causing them to stop treating Medicare patients altogether.
Therefore, permanently fixing the flawed SGR reimbursement model benefits all Americans. It will strengthen our economic future and create a more sustainable path for our nation. Today, we not only improved Medicare – we began a movement to achieve real entitlement reform.”
