Bill To Give Parents, Teachers Access To Student's TCAP Test Scores Passes Subcommittee

  • Thursday, March 26, 2015

A bill that would allow a student’s parent or teacher access to their TCAP test scores has moved forward in committee.   The bill, HB1089, sponsored by Rep. Kevin Dunlap of Rock Island, would allow parents and teachers access to their state-required test scores under certain conditions.

“Empowering our parents to see the high-stakes tests our students are taking gives them the tools to help their kids be more successful,“ said Rep. Dunlap. “Removing the veil of TCAP and other state mandated tests 30 days after the testing allows parents and teachers to enrich and enhance student learning by drilling down to specific questions from the state mandated tests.”

The bill passed the subcommittee for Education Instruction and Programs with no opposition and now moves on to the full committee next week.
