RE:  Finley Stadium Financial Picture Rosy; Beer And Alcohol Sales Approved; AstroTurf Almost Ready

and City, County Pitching In $250,000 Each For New Finley Stadium AstroTurf

I read a story here five days ago about a rosy future for Finley stadium. It lead me to believe that the stadium was making money and even improvements with donations.

Then we get a short story about how the local taxpayers are really footing the bill. The story does not mention where the money comes from.  I think the public should have input on such expenditures.

I hope the work and brings in more money for the stadium so it can get a real job and move out of the basement.

Finley Stadium is owned by the city of Chattanooga and Hamilton County and is managed by the stadium corporation. As any business, upgrades must be done from time to time. The field turf was 11 years old and needed to be replaced.

As a taxpayer I have no issue with the money being spent to upgrade something that is owned by the taxpayers.

The total cost of the new turf cost way more then the $500k being spent by the taxpayers, so looks like cash came from gifts or revenue. I think the new turf costing us $500k is a deal.
