Memorial Ceremony For Harry Thomas Burn, Sr. Is Saturday

The Tennessee Society Sons of the American Revolution will host a Massing of the Colors and Memorial Ceremony honoring SAR President-General Harry Thomas Burn, Sr. on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Niota Ceremony.  The public is invited to attend.

General Burn served as SAR president from 1964-65.  He distinguished himself and his state on Aug. 18, 1920, when as a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives he cast the deciding vote that ended Tennessee’s “War of the Roses” resulting in the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, granting women the right to vote.
