There might not be a better time in the history of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to be a Moc than right now. Over the last 12 months, UTC has won five Southern Conference titles, had three teams ranked in the top-25 in the nation, and twice posted a school-record grade point average.
Chattanooga has led the Southern Conference in attendance in football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball, while celebrating five All-American and four Southern Conference Athlete of the Year honors.
UTC invites the public to come celebrate all things Mocs from the Spring 2014 season through the recently completed winter campaign. This is the fourth year of The Scrappys, the all-sports awards banquet for Chattanooga Athletics.
The 2014-15 Scrappy Awards will take place at the historic Tivoli Theater in downtown Chattanooga. The event is designed to celebrate the accomplishments of UTC Athletics, in the classroom, in competition and in the community.
The primary focus of The Scrappys is the 2014-15 senior class from all 17 men's and women's programs and there are a number of awards up for grabs.
Chattanooga’s success, in and out of competition, ensures an exciting evening of anticipation for the coveted feathered trophies.
The Scrappys include awards for:
Play of the Year
Individual Performance of the Year
Victory of the Year
Rookie of the Year
Columbia Recycling Comeback Award
Brenda Lawson & Associates Professor of the Year
College of Health, Education & Professional Studies Scholar-Athlete of the Year
FSG Bank Team of the Year
Coca-Cola Male Student-Athlete of the Year
Coca-Cola Female Student-Athlete of the Year
The Scrappys are not limited to awarding just student-athletes. There are several categories for those who have a great impact on the Mocs mission to achieve excellence.
These include:
Coach of the Year
McDonald’s Fan of the Year
Behind the Scenes Award
Tickets start at $15 for just the show, or $40 for the VIP Reception and admission to the banquet. Fans can grab dinner downtown before coming to The Scrappys, or enjoy concessions available at the Tivoli.
There will be a VIP reception with the Mocs coaches begins at 5:30 p.m. and doors open to the theater at 6:30 p.m.
