Smith, Katherine Rains (Dunlap)

Katherine Rains Smith, 92, of Dunlap, TN, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015 at her home.

She was born in Bledsoe County on March 29, 1922 and was a member of the Church of Christ since age 18. Ms. Smith retired from TVA with 38 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Lee Smith; parents, Alfred and Maude Austin Rains; sister, Willie Jo Rains; and brothers, Amos Rains, Charles Rains, and Robert L. Rains. 

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Ann Davis; granddaughter, Jennifer Davis Foshee; great-granddaughters, Jessica and Emily Foshee; brothers, James (June) Rains, Isaac Rains and Joe (Vera) Rains; sisters-in-law, Betty Rains, Elzada Rains, Marita Rains and Lillian Smith; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. CST Tuesday, March 3 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Larry Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in Collier Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday, March 2. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Sequatchie County Cancer Support Network. 

The Smith family would like to thank the nurses and aids with East TN Home Health and Hospice: Lori, Libb, Brenda, Sherry, April, Snowe, and especially Shanna. Also to our sitter, Scarlett Nolen. Without you all we couldn't have kept mom at home.
