The East Ridge Parks and Recreation Department is now a free Active Seniors Program to better the quality of life for all senior citizens in the area who attend.
Pat Snowden, who has more than 30 years of experience in fitness training, will serve as the senior activities coordinator for the new program being held at the East Ridge Community Center at 1515 Tombras Ave.
East Ridge Parks and Recreation Director Stump Martin said he’s excited about including more senior activities under the direction of Ms. Snowden.
“Pat is very energetic, sincere and extremely qualified to be able to implement a seniors program that we believe will grow to be something special,” Mr. Martin said. “Pat has taught the Silver Sneakers program at the East Ridge Community Center through the YMCA for the past five years. She knows and loves many of the seniors in East Ridge and we are excited about having a true professional on our team.”
With the senior population in East Ridge and America growing, the Parks and Recreation Department wanted to expand the involvement and activities of the area seniors.
“Our goal is to develop their mind, body and soul by offering recreation programs, quality education and social opportunities,” Ms. Snowden said. “I’m excited to announce as of March 2, all the new Active Seniors programs and activities will begin.
“Don't miss the opportunity to join us as we grow,” she said. “These programs are for you.”
