BCSO Assists Salvation Army As Bell Ringers

  • Monday, November 30, 2015

Sheriff Eric Watson and his family, as well as members of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, are ringing bells to help the local Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign.  The Red Kettle has long been the primary way the Salvation Army receives money from the public to help fund programs that assist Bradley County people.

The Red Kettle tended by the BCSO totaled some $615.37 this past weekend.  The donated cash was turned over to the Salvation Army.  The sheriff then offered a good-natured challenge to the Cleveland Police Department and Chief Mark Gibson to match or exceed that total.

Sheriff Watson said, “We are honored to be able to help the Salvation Army as they use this familiar method to raise the funds it takes to help our friends and neighbors.  Your BCSO sees a lot of need, especially this time of year, and the Salvation Army is always ready to provide assistance to area folks in need.”

For many years at Christmastime, local citizens have placed their dollars and change in the Red Kettles, accompanied by the bell ringers.

To be a part of the Salvation Army’s bell ringers, contact Sergeant Ruthie Forgey at 304-9281.

Sheriff Watson concluded by saying, “The Salvation Army has helped so many Bradley County people over the years and we are sincerely glad to assist them.”
