Emily Ann McElvain Blackburn, 71, faith became sight, when she departed this life and was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 29, 2015.    

Emily was born September 18, 1944 in Winston-Salem, N.C., to her beloved parents, the late James and Dorothy McElvain. She was saved by grace and baptized at an early age at First Baptist Church Lookout Mountain where she was a devoted member through adulthood.  Emily was also a faithful member of Resurrected Reformed Baptist Church. 

Emily attended and completed her education at Howard High School, graduating with the Class of 1962.  She was employed by Walmart Stores (Gunbarrel Road and Signal Mtn. Road) where she dedicated the last 10 years providing excellent customer service.   

She is survived by her three children, Beverly Blackburn, Vincent (Leah) Blackburn, and Bernard (Dominique) Blackburn; sister, Betty McElvain Collins, all of Chattanooga; nine grandchildren, Vincent (Keyenne) Conley, Germany,  Ivory Conley, Fort Worth, TX, Carmen Blackburn, Chattanooga, Dannica (Michael) Huening, Marietta, GA, Dayna Blackburn, Benjamin Blackburn, Brendan Blackburn, Isaiah Blackburn and Jasper Blackburn, all of Chattanooga, one great-granddaughter, Ari’ana Carson, Germany; aunts,  Ann McElvain English of Cleveland, OH, Cleo McGriff of Winston-Salem, NC; nieces, Gina Collins Bascom, Tampa, Fla., Dorothy (Malvin)Grimes, and Cindy Collins, of Chattanooga; six great nieces and nephews, six great–great nieces and nephews; two special cousins, John Lawrence and Shirley Govan along with a host of additional loving relatives and friends.  

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, at noon at Resurrected Reformed Baptist Church with Eddie Darryl Jacks, senior pastor, elder and teacher, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery. 

The body will lie in state after noon on Friday at the funeral home, andthe family will receive friends from 7–8 p.m. at Resurrected Reformed Baptist Church, 2230 E. 18th Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37404.
